Batumi City Court has found Mzia Amaglobeli, founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti online newspapers, guilty of an administrative offence for the second time.

Judge Mariana Pomaeva fined Amaglobeli 1,000 lari for displaying a poster. Fomaeva reached her decision after hearing testimony from two law enforcement witnesses and one protest participant.

The defence argued that Mzia Amaglobeli was tried twice for the same case.

According to a Ministry of Internal Affairs representative, Amaglobeli faced responsibility once for insulting law enforcement officers and a second time for displaying the poster.

Amaglobeli was fined 2,000 lari on the first administrative charge. She did not attend today’s hearing in protest.

The substantive hearing of the criminal case continues, with the next hearing scheduled for 23 June.
