Deputy Economy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili says Georgia expects a significant increase in Chinese tourist arrivals thanks to the ITB China exhibition and the launch of new direct flights. Speaking after the event, he emphasized that Georgia’s special partner status at ITB China 2026 provided a major platform to showcase the country’s tourism products in one of its priority markets.
According to the ministry, about 30 Georgian companies participated in the national stand in Shanghai, gaining access to key industry players and forming new business connections. Nadareishvili highlighted that China has been a focus of Georgia’s long-term marketing campaigns, making the exposure especially valuable.
He also underlined the importance of direct air connectivity. Starting July, direct flights between Shanghai and Tbilisi will begin, a step he believes will strengthen ties and drive further growth in tourist flows from China.
The participation is part of a nearly $1.5 million contract with Beijing Shi Dai Yi Feng Information Technology aimed at promoting Georgian tourism in China, including $185,000 allocated specifically for ITB China. Additionally, the Tourism Administration signed a 1.4 million GEL contract with Silk Hospitality to host 700 guests during the exhibition.
