Natia Turnava and Central Bank of Azerbaijan sign cooperation memorandum

The delegation of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) visited the Central Bank of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where a meeting was held between Natia Turnava, President of the National Bank of Georgia, and Taleh Kazimov, President of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.

According to the National Bank, the parties discussed strengthening regional cooperation in monetary policy and central bank activities. The discussion covered the regional macroeconomic environment, the financial sector, and the impact of geopolitical factors on monetary policy.

The meeting also focused on enhancing financial services between the two countries, particularly improving cross-border payment efficiency. The National Bank of Georgia is currently modernizing its payment infrastructure, including upgrading the RTGS system and introducing an instant payment system. Both sides agreed to explore collaboration opportunities in payments to reduce transaction costs and increase efficiency.

Additionally, the parties discussed regional cooperation in fintech, highlighting recent innovations in both countries. Strengthening cooperation between the central banks is expected to advance financial services development.

Following the meeting, Turnava and Kazimov signed a memorandum of cooperation.
