Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Natia Turnava held a meeting with the members of the newly established ICT Association of Georgia and discussed the prospects of the information technology sector development in the country with them.
The Minister highlighted that the information technology sector in Georgia is developing very fast, which has been facilitated by a number of decisions made by the Government. Natia Turnava, as one of the examples, mentioned a special tax regime, which has been applied to those in the sector who meet the status of “international company”. According to the Minister, taxes are rather law for the companies working in the ICT sector and providing services for export.
The meeting also focused on the challenges that the ICT industry is facing, as well as the development prospects, especially in the post-pandemic period, when the demand for sector services became particularly strong. “We expect that the ICT is the sectors that, along with other productive sectors, will become one of the main exporters of our country,” – Natia Turnava noted.
Prospects and areas of the further cooperation that will contribute to the development of the ICT sector were also covered during the meeting.
Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili, Chairman of the LEPL Innovation and Technology Agency Avtandil Kasradze, Chairman of the Georgian ICT Association and the President of StrategEast Anatoly Motkin, also participated in the meeting.
