The National Bureau of Enforcement sold the home of former Prime Minister Nika Gilauri in Tsavkisi at auction for 3.998 million GEL. The news was first reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
The initial property auction was announced on June 12, 2026, with a starting price of 3.657 million GEL, but concluded without any bids.

Following the unsuccessful first attempt, the National Bureau of Enforcement announced a repeat auction, reducing the starting price to 487,600 GEL—10% of the property's total appraised value of 4.876 million GEL.

The repeat auction took place on July 16. Following 72 bids, the final purchase price rose to 3,998,320 GEL.

Property & Buyer Details
Property Features: The auctioned real estate covers a 3,368-square-meter land plot and a 1,157-square-meter residential house. Property specifications also listed a courtyard swimming pool, tennis courts, and a garage.

New Owner: Public registry records confirm the new owner is businessman Vano Sturua, owner of the restaurant chains Taghlaura and Machakhela, alongside stakes in various other enterprises.

Background on the Legal Dispute

The forced sale of Gilauri's home stems from an ongoing legal dispute. On February 12, 2025, the Tbilisi City Court ordered Nika Gilauri and his companies to pay over $12 million to a former business partner, Black Sea Group.

Gilauri appealed the decision to both the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court, but upper instances upheld the ruling. Consequently, assets belonging to Gilauri and his partners were frozen and put up for enforcement auction.

According to Public Registry records, the Tsavkisi property had been the only residential real estate registered in Nika Gilauri's name in Georgia since 2018. Proceeds from its sale were directed by the National Bureau of Enforcement toward satisfying the court-ordered compensation.
