During the first eleven months of 2024, Armenia experienced a significant decline in natural population growth. According to data from the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the indicator dropped by one-third compared to the same period last year.
From January to November 2024, 30,916 children were born in the country, representing a 7.8% decrease compared to the same period in 2023. The birth rate fell from 12.4 to 11.2 per 1,000 inhabitants. At the same time, mortality rates increased, with 23,391 deaths recorded during the reporting period, 5.4% higher than the previous year. The mortality rate rose from 8.2 to 8.5 per mille.
As a result, the natural population growth amounted to 7,525 people, marking a 33.5% reduction compared to the previous year. The natural population growth rate declined from 4.2 to 2.7 per mille.
