The first president of Kazakhstan, the leader of the nation Nursultan Nazarbayev is in the capital of Kazakhstan and is in contact with the president of the country, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, his press secretary Aidos Ukibay told Russian Interfax on Saturday.
"Elbasy (the leader of the nation) is in the capital of Kazakhstan, the city of Nur-Sultan. We ask you not to spread knowingly false and speculative information. The Elbasy conducts a number of consultative meetings and is in direct contact with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev," he said.
According to Ukibay, Nazarbayev also had several telephone conversations with the heads of states friendly to Kazakhstan.
The spokesman noted that Nazarbayev calls on everyone to rally around the President of Kazakhstan to overcome current challenges and ensure the country's integrity.
'Where is Nazarbayev?' - the media has been constantly asking this question during the overhaul in Kazakhstan which has started over oil price and turned into the massive political protest.
Rumors that Ex-President Nursultan Nazarbayev has fled the country has been spreading from Jan 7. Today, Russian media also informed that Nazarbayev might be in China.
