Natia Turnava, the Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, on Friday said access to finances was a “critical factor” for the success of micro, small and medium enterprises, in comments during the signing of a cooperation agreement between the domestic Terabank and the Netherlands Development Bank.

The National Bank of Georgia said the deal would see Terabank become the first bank in Georgia to start implementing the NASIRA programme of the Dutch Bank, which aims to promote “inclusive growth, job creation and sustainable development”.

"I welcome the launch of the NASIRA guarantee program, which will contribute to the greater involvement of our citizens in economic activities and the growth of inclusiveness”, Turnava said in her comments.

I believe this programme will improve access to finance for micro, small and medium businesses, especially for women and young entrepreneurs. By promoting and empowering them, we create a strong foundation for sustainable and long-term economic growth”, she added.

The NBG said NASIRA was helping financial institutions expand credit activities for micro, small and medium enterprises with the focus made on small farmers, women entrepreneurs and young entrepreneurs who often face difficulties in accessing finances.
