Natia Turnava, Acting Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), met with Ulrich Bindseil, Director General of Market Infrastructure and Payments at the European Central Bank (ECB) and representatives from the ECB.
Ms. Turnava thanked Mr. Bindseil for the renewed discussion with NBG on the process of harmonizing Georgia’s legislation with EU standards.
During the meeting, the NBG team presented an overview of Georgia’s current payment infrastructure and ongoing projects as well as Fintech strategy implementation. The discussion focused on ongoing reforms and oversight practices at NBG and ECB.
Both sides agreed to continue cooperation in the field of payments oversight and supporting Georgia’s alignment with EU regulatory standards.
