The National Bank of Ukraine sold $735.48 million in the interbank foreign exchange market in the past week. That’s according to the bank’s press service, Ukrinform reports.
As a result of foreign exchange interventions, from October 16 to October 20, the NBU sold $735.48 million and bought $0.14 million.
In total, since the beginning of 2023, the National Bank sold $21.936 billion and bought $208.42 million in the interbank bank.
Over 2022 the National Bank has sold $26.38 billion and EUR 1.789 billion, as well as purchased $3.27 billion and EUR 110.97 million.
From October 3, the National Bank has declared the transition to managed forex rate flexibility. At the same time, NBU Governor Andriy Pishnyi explained that the central bank is not set to let the rate flow uncontrollably as the regulator will continue to monitor and control the situation in the interbank foreign exchange market.
The fixed rate of UAH 36.5686 to the US dollar remained in place from late July 2022 to October 3, 2023.
