New statistics released by UNHCR on April 14 show that 4,736,471 Ukrainians left the country due to the war, showing an increase of 80,000 people compared to the previous data, Ukrinform reports.

As noted, 90 percent of those who fled are women and children as men of military age are prohibited from leaving Ukraine.

On April 5, the UN reported that 7.1 million people were displaced inside the country because of the war.

Poland, which has received approximately 2.69 million refugees, has been a major destination for those crossing the border, followed by Romania with about 716,700 people who came to its territory.

Earlier, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi called the wave of refugees from Ukraine "the fastest growing refugee crisis in Europe since World War II."
