A new transport hub has been completed at the intersection of Noe Zhordania Embankment and Kosta Khetagurov Street, with the project costing GEL 3 million, according to Tbilisi City Hall.
Mayor Kakha Kaladze, together with Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze, inspected the newly finished works on site.
“This was one of the most challenging sections of the city. According to information from the Patrol Police, traffic accidents frequently occurred here. Now the junction has been fully rehabilitated, new sidewalks and zebra crossings have been arranged, making it possible to access the embankment safely on foot. Smart traffic lights operating on artificial intelligence were also installed; they analyze traffic flows and give priority to the busiest directions. I’m glad the area is now fully renovated, illuminated, and landscaped. Similar problematic junctions remain in the city, and we will continue to address them step by step,” said Kaladze.
As part of the project, a modern outdoor lighting system with LED fixtures was installed, along with landscaping works. An irrigation system was added to dividing islands, 931 trees and shrubs of various species were planted, and grass was laid across 914 square meters.
