The Tbilisi City Hall announced the completion of a new sports complex in Tabakhmela, near Trialeti Street N2. The project, funded with GEL 4.5 million from the Mtatsminda district administration budget, began construction in 2023 and aims to provide modern infrastructure for local sports schools and the community.
The complex, covering 5,000 sq.m., includes:
- A football and basketball court built to international standards
- A grandstand for 500 spectators
- Lighting and a scoreboard
- Parking space
- Two padel courts, currently under construction
Additionally, an administrative building for 45 people was constructed on-site, featuring bedrooms, wet areas, a dining room, locker rooms, and medical and referee facilities. The entire complex is fully accessible for people with disabilities.
The completed works were inspected by Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, City Council Chairman Zurab Abashidze, and Deputy Mayors Andria Basilaia and Irakli Bendeliani, along with Mtatsminda District Governor Davit Kirkitadze, Georgian Football Federation first vice-president Kakha Chumburidze, and veteran athletes.
“The Mtatsminda District Administration has implemented a very important project. A European-standard football field, a grandstand, a basketball court, and a parking space have been built. The territory is well-maintained and illuminated, and padel courts are being completed. Local children now have access to modern infrastructure where they can play football, rugby, and continue training under proper conditions. I congratulate the children and wish them success,” - Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.
The new complex is expected to serve as a hub for youth sports programs, offering modern facilities for training and competitions.
