A new wedding house with a distinctive architectural design is planned to be built in Mestia Municipality, the Ministry of Justice announced. The project was officially launched with a symbolic capsule ceremony attended by Justice Minister Paata Salia, representatives of the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti regional administration, the ministry, and local authorities.
The architectural concept was created by a Georgian architect and is designed to blend with Svaneti’s unique landscape and traditional architectural style. The project has already received international recognition, winning awards at two international design competitions — the Japan International Design Award in Tokyo and the Rome Design Award in Italy.
The new wedding house will provide marriage registration services for both Georgian and foreign citizens, while also supporting Mestia’s development as an international tourism destination. Officials say the project is part of the government’s regional development strategy aimed at creating modern public infrastructure and improving access to quality services.
The building will be constructed on Revaz Margiani Street in Mestia and will also include the Revaz Margiani House-Museum, adding cultural value to the project. The facility is expected to combine public services, cultural heritage, and tourism potential in one of Georgia’s most distinctive regions.
