Part of the business sector claims that the instability created in the country in recent months has already had a negative impact on the employment market.
As the Association of Restaurateurs says, against the backdrop of political instability and reduced demand, a number of tourist facilities have closed, and accordingly, some of those employed in the hospitality sector have lost their jobs.
As the head of the association, Shota Burjanadze, told BMG, if before there was an acute shortage of personnel in the tourism sector, now the number of job seekers is increasing.
“Unfortunately, too many facilities are closing, and accordingly, when a facility closes, people lose their jobs. There has always been a shortage of personnel in our sector. And now, not a day goes by without several applicants appearing who have lost their jobs and are looking for another one. As for the remuneration part, there can be no good expectations here either. In the current situation, we can talk not about an increase in salaries, but, unfortunately, about the dismissal of employees. Given that today the number of customers and income in our business is decreasing, the output cannot increase in any way.
Tourist facilities are created based on demand in the country. In this situation, local demand is decreasing and consumers are refraining from entering restaurants, and there is no increase in tourist reservations, naturally, the number of facilities is also decreasing,” said Shota Burjanadze.
