Koka Topuria, Rector of the University of Georgia declares, that the business should support public servants so that they do not have difficulty quitting their jobs. He spoke about this in the BMGTV program “Business Week”.
According to him, the amount allocated by the University of Georgia serves to provide salaries for the employment of people who will leave the puli service.
“One of the important things that Georgian businesses can do now is to support civil servants who distance themselves from the policies that the “Georgian Dream” is pursuing, distance themselves from the Russian vector, distance themselves from postponing rapprochement with Europe, distance themselves from what is happening on the streets now, but they find it difficult to take the step of leaving their jobs because they have a family behind them. Georgian businesses can now play an important role and financially support these people so that they can easily take this step.
The money that we have allocated for civil servants leaving the public sector will be used to provide salaries to those we employ. We have not created a fund where we ask for money to be transferred, this is from our internal budget. We have increased our payroll and we will employ those people who will have to leave their jobs,” Topuria says.
According to him, an authoritarian dictatorship cannot last long in Georgia, because there cannot be such a separation between society, as is the case in Russia, Belarus or other countries. According to Topuria, if business was silent before, now everyone must speak up.
