Turkey attracted 790,687 foreign visitors this April, skyrocketed by 3,162% from the same month of last year. With over 53%, Istanbul was the top visited place during the report period. The top tourism market for Turkey was Russia.
In April 2021, 790 687 foreign visitors arrived in Turkey, up from 24, 238, or 3,162% compared to the same month of the previous year. Out of total visitors, 3 185 (0.40%) were excursionists, reads the recent data of the Turkey's Culture and Tourism Ministry.
However, last month’s data remains too far from the pre-pandemic level of April 2019, when Turkey hosted 3 293 176 foreign visitors.
Top five most visited provinces during April were Istanbul - 419 686 visitors, Antalya - 171 088, Edirne - 84 173, Sırnak - 19 412 and Ankara - 15 995.
Total number of foreign visitors arriving in Turkey during Jan-April 2021 reached 2 743 773.
In the January - April 2021, the top tourism markets for Turkey were Russia Federation, with 20,12% (552 048), Iran with 7,08% (194 384), Ukraine with 6,82% (187 029), Germany 6.74% (185 032) and Bulgaria with 5.82% (159 653).
