Oil export via BTC increased by 6% in January-July

Oil exports through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in January-July 2023 amounted to 133.408 million barrels, which is 6.2% higher than the same period last year, Interfax-Azerbaijan was told at the Turkish company BOTAS International Limited (BIL is the operator Turkish section of the BTC pipeline).

According to the company, 19.634 million barrels were transported via the BTC oil pipeline in July (+6% from July 2022).

In 2022, BTC oil exports amounted to 225.445 million barrels (+12.6% from 2021).
Currently, oil from the block of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli fields and condensate from the Shah Deniz field, as well as SOCAR oil and condensate are pumped through the BTC oil pipeline. Oil from other sources is also pumped through the BTC.

BTC oil pipeline is 1,768 thousand km length, of which 443 km is in Azerbaijan, 249 km in Georgia, and 1,076 km in Turkey. The throughput capacity of the pipeline exceeds 50 million tons of oil per year.

The project participants are: BP (30.1%); SOCAR (25%); MOL (8.9%); Equinor (8.71%); TPAO (6.53%); ENI (5%); Itochu (3.4%); ExxonMobil (2.5%); INPEX (2.5%), TotalEnergies (5%) and ONGCVidesh (2.36%).
