On the background of Coronavirus, Remittances up in Georgia – Statistics

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) published a report on remittances in February 2020. Georgia received $137.3 million from abroad in February 2020, which is 9.5 per cent more than the amount in February 2019, says the National Bank of Georgia.

Russia ($28.68 million), Italy ($21.67 million) and Greece ($16.43 million) were the largest remittance senders in February 2020.

Overall, the vast majority (94 per cent) of all money transfers from abroad came from 17 countries.

After Russia, Italy and Greece, other countries regularly sending money transfers to Georgia in February 2020 included:

19 Armenia - 679 319 USD, down 18.5% from the previous year;

In February 2020, remittances leaving Georgia totalled $21.7 million, compared to $17.7 million in February 2019.
