Internet-based transactions made with bank cards in Georgia continue to grow rapidly, with both the number and value of online purchases increasing significantly in 2026. According to National Bank of Georgia data, 169.5 million online transactions were conducted during the first six months of the year, compared with 134.8 million in the same period of 2025 and 113.5 million in 2024.
The annual growth rate of online transactions reached 25.7%. Of the total number of internet transactions this year, 31.5 million operations were carried out on foreign websites and platforms, reflecting continued growth in cross-border digital spending.
In monetary terms, Georgians spent a total of GEL 16.48 billion through online purchases during the first half of 2026. Of this amount, GEL 4.1 billion was spent abroad, while the corresponding figure for the same period last year was around GEL 3.3 billion.
The increase highlights the growing role of digital payments and e-commerce in consumer behavior, with online shopping, international services, and foreign platforms accounting for a larger share of card-based spending.
