Ivane Chkhaidze, the head of the pediatric department of the Iashvili Clinic, says that it is very important to constantly update and publish analytical data on the vaccination rate, including the age groups.
Ivane Chkhaidze deeply believes that these data will be very helpful to decision-makers and may also be an incentive for many people. In this context, the pediatrician talks about allowing vaccination for children aged 12-15. According to him, when discussing the issue, it is necessary to take into account that only one out of 50 teens aged 16-18 is jabbed.
“As far as I know, vaccination in teens aged 16-18 is very rare. When we demand to start vaccination of children aged 12-15, is Georgia ready for that?! Only 1 out of 50 teenagers aged 16-18 is jabbed. What is the point of requesting vaccination for children aged 12-15?! The parents will not do that, they will not take this step,” Ivane Chkhaidze said, adding that the share of vaccinations for children aged 16-18 is 0.7% among the vaccinated citizens.
