Paata Kurtanidze, founder and managing partner of Aversi, says that Georgian clinics are not only competing with each other, but also with medical centers across the region and internationally. He made this statement during a visit to Healthcare Standard.

According to him, significant sums are transferred from Georgia to neighboring and European countries every year for medical services, which places local clinics in direct competition with facilities abroad. “Clinics in Georgia do not only compete with each other. Our competitors are also clinics in neighboring countries. As you know, very large sums of money are transferred from Georgia to neighboring countries and some European countries. In other words, we compete with world-class clinics in Turkey, Germany, Austria, and Israel, because the population of Georgia visits these clinics,” Kurtanidze explained.

He emphasized that to reduce medical outflow and attract patients, Georgian clinics must match or even surpass the standards of these international institutions. “In order for them not to go to another country and come to our clinic, we must have equipment that is no less than those clinics – and even better. My personal position, as the owner of the clinics, is that everything we buy is the best equipment in the world,” he said.

Kurtanidze also highlighted the importance of human resources, noting that advanced equipment alone is not enough. “The level of doctors is very important. High-level equipment is necessary, but not sufficient. We try to have both high-level equipment and doctors working on them,” he added.
