Valeri Chechelashvili, the former ambassador to Russia notes, that if "Georgian Dream" wins the elections on October 26 and breaks away from its Western partners, it will bring a strong blow to the Georgian economy.
According to him, Georgia's economic well-being depends on cooperation with international financial institutions.
"A very difficult situation could develop. Let's not forget that Brussels is not just the European Union and the European Commission; it is the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction... Just as Washington is not just the White House, it is the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.
Our economic well-being depends on cooperation with such global financial institutions, as well as on the fact that we are an integral, inseparable part of the international financial system. If we put it under the question, then all the things we are so proud of [ developed banking sector, financial stability, etc.] - will be in danger and it will be impossible to compensate for it," Chechelashvili said.
