In 11M2023, natural grape wines rank on the second place among the exporting products of Georgia. According to official statistics, 83.1 tons of wine USD 239.3 million worth were sold from the country this year.
As Giorgi Salakaia, the founder of company "Badagoni", told BM.GE, the exporting volume increased by 42% this year. They are going to increase the volume by another 10% next year.
At this stage, the company "Badagoni" is represented in 33 countries worldwide, and the most active exporting markets are Poland, China and Germany this year.
"In 2023, we produced 12.8 million bottles, which we fully sold. However, due to the climatic conditions, the spoiled grape harvest increased our costs and led to a 7-8% increase in the prices of products both on the exporting markets and on the local market.
It should be noted that 100% of the next year's products have already been contracted and will be exported to those markets. Therefore, there is a stable situation in the enterprise, and moreover, we are going to modernize it, in terms of the development of the second enterprise. 22% of our production is sold locally, and the remaining 78% is exported.
We currently have two enterprises. The first, main enterprise is located in the village of Zemo Khodasheni (Akhmet region), and the second enterprise is located in the village of Manavi, which is equipped with ultra-modern equipment. Next year, we plan to develop the enterprise located in the village of Manavi. We plan to invest GEL 3 million for the development of the enterprise," said Salakaia.
The company employs a total of 1,500 people, however, along with the increase in production, it is planned to add new staff.
According to him, in 2023, "Badagoni" received specific grapes for the production of sparkling wine by the classical method. The new product will appear on the market late next year.
