After the introduction of sanctions, 1,795 cases of sending the cargo back and refusal of the implementation of customs procedures have been reported at the customs borders of Georgia, as well as more than 1,050 refusal of export or re-export of goods to the economic zones of registration, - reads the report of the Minister of Finance, which has already been submitted to the Parliament.
As mentioned in the document, there were no cases of violation of the imposed sanctions.
According to the same report, in the part of support for the enforcement of international sanctions, Georgia has been and will actively monitor the strict monitoring of the activities aimed at preventing the use of the territory of Georgia for the purpose of evading sanctions. The document states that in this direction, constant coordination with partner countries and exchange of information in operational mode will continue.
"It is the result of the effective work of the customs department that there has been no cases of violation of the imposed sanctions during the period. After the start of hostilities by Russia in Ukraine, taking into account the imposition of restrictions on trade in specified goods by the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the European Union and other countries participating in the process of imposing economic sanctions in relation to the Russian Federation and Belarus, all those products that are included in the list determined by the countries participating in the sanctions, as well as any customs operation (including export, re-export and transit), which can be carried out by sanctioned individuals or companies, is subject to special customs control in Georgia. From the very first days of the imposition of international sanctions, a special group was created in the Revenue Service, which constantly monitors the issue of sanctioned cargoes and persons during the movement of goods through the controlled territory of Georgia.

Currently, 36 operational risk profiles are active, which automatically identify sanctions data and initiate the detection of additional risk factors. The work of our customs services in this direction is recognized by all partner countries at the highest level," reads the document.
According to the same report, the necessary equipment, including X-ray scanners, was additionally placed at the customs checkpoint in Kazbegi. Also, the capacity of other checkpoints to implement appropriate controls has been strengthened.
