In 2025, more than GEL 188,000 in incorrectly billed charges was written off for consumers in Georgia, according to the acting Public Defender of Consumer Interests in the energy sector, Nino Guleishvili.
Presenting the annual report to Parliament’s Human Rights Committee, Guleishvili said the Energy Ombudsman’s office received around 1,100 complaints during the year, including 506 related to water supply, 444 to electricity, and 102 to natural gas.
She noted that over 1,050 recommendations were issued, with 78% of cases resolved in favor of consumers, 10% partially satisfied, 5% resolved through mediation, and 7% rejected.
Guleishvili also highlighted increased public awareness efforts, which led to nearly double the number of citizen complaints compared to the previous year.
