During 2019, the revenues of postal and courier enterprises amounted to GEL 90.2 million, out of which revenues from international postal and courier services shared 77.7 percent and from local services - 22.3 percent. The total income of enterprises has dropped by GEL 5.6 million during 2019, as compared to the prior year, the annual data of the Georgian National Statistics Office (GeoStat) says.
In 2018 there were 65 active economic entities engaged in postal and courier activities. According to the GeoStat survey results, the income of enterprises engaged in postal and courier activities was GEL 95.8 million in 2018.
26.3 percent of the revenues of postal and courier enterprises came from letter posts during 2019, of which 55.0 percent were international and 45.0 percent were domestic parcels. The share of income of letter posts for enterprises was 24.5% during 2018, out of which 57.0 percent were international parcels, while the rest 43.0 percent were local.
Overall, 6120.2 thousand letter posts and 2748.2 thousand parcels were sent by the enterprises engaged in postal and courier services during 2019.
The average annual number of employees in the enterprises engaged in postal and courier activities was 3.9 thousand people during 2019.
