Parliament adopted draft law on remuneration in public institutions in 3rd reading

პარლამენტი

The Parliament passed the amendment to the Law on Remuneration of Labor in Public Institutions in the third reading, with 77 votes.

Rati Ionatamishvili, Chairman of the Georgian Dream faction, presented the legislative amendment concerning the remuneration of state-political officials to the members of parliament.

According to the amendment, the specific official salary for state-political officials defined by the draft law is adjusted to comply with the coefficients defined by the law. Therefore, the remuneration of these officials is determined by multiplying the coefficients by the base official salary, as determined by law. Additionally, there are no changes in the upper limit coefficients.

The legislative amendment regulates the remuneration of the following political officials: the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, Ministers/Ministers of State, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic and the Chairman of the Government, Ministers/First Deputy Ministers of State, Deputy Ministers/Deputy Ministers of State, the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic, Chairmen of Committees/Factions of the Supreme Council, Ministers and First Deputy Ministers of the Autonomous Republic, Deputy Chairmen of Committees/Factions of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic, Deputy Ministers of the Autonomous Republic, and members of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic.

According to the speaker, last year, the Parliament supported the initiative aimed at aligning the salaries of parliamentary officials with these coefficients. Now, it is important to extend the same standard to high political officials, including those in the executive branch, as well as the Public Defender and the Auditor General.

Amendments based on the draft law are also included in the Organic Law of Georgia on the Public Defender of Georgia and on the Audit Service.
