Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the initiative of the Armenian side. The two leaders reviewed Armenia's chairmanship in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and discussed prospects for further cooperation.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, Pashinyan and Putin summarized Armenia's work during its 2024 EAEU chairmanship. The discussion focused not only on the results of the chairmanship and plans for future activities within the EAEU but also on a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues between the two countries.
The Kremlin's press service reported that particular attention was given to deepening integration within the EAEU, especially in the energy sector. Both leaders highlighted the significant practical benefits of joint efforts within the EAEU for Armenia's economy.
An important part of the conversation was the discussion of Yerevan's recent steps toward closer relations with the European Union. Pashinyan provided explanations on this matter, receiving corresponding comments and assessments from the Russian leader.
