Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he has received and accepted an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in the BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24, 2024. This will be the first time in history that an Armenian leader takes part in an event of this format.
Speaking at the Second World Armenian Summit in Yerevan on September 18, Pashinyan emphasized that the issue of Armenia’s integration with BRICS is not currently on the agenda. "At the moment, I can’t say more," the Prime Minister noted, while not ruling out potential future cooperation.
Earlier, BMG reported that Armenia is preparing to participate in two major international events in 2024: the BRICS summit and the informal CIS countries summit.
The BRICS summit in Kazan will gather not only leaders of the member states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), but also representatives of countries seeking to join the organization. Key topics of discussion will include the prospects for further partnerships and defining priority areas for cooperation.
