Pensions for people under 70 will increase by GEL 20 to GEL 390 in 2027, while pensions for people aged 70 and over will rise by GEL 60 to GEL 555, Paata Kvizhinadze, chair of Parliament’s Finance and Budget Committee, said while discussing the 2027 state budget.
Kvizhinadze said pensions for people aged 70 and over living in mountainous areas will increase to GEL 665. He also said social benefits for people with disabilities would increase at the same proportions, while public sector salaries are planned to rise by 8.4%.
The 2027 state budget draft was registered with Parliament’s Bureau on September 30, although the document has not yet been published on Parliament’s website. Kvizhinadze said committee discussions will begin next week, adding that the consolidated budget’s revenues are expected to increase by almost GEL 2 billion and funding will rise for practically all ministries.
Kvizhinadze stressed that the submitted budget is an initial draft and will be revised during the second and third readings. Under Georgia’s pension indexation rules in effect since 2021, annual pension increases are linked to inflation and economic growth, with minimum increases of GEL 20 for people under 70 and GEL 25 for those aged 70 and over.
