Plant Prices Up By 20% In The Local Nurseries - Grato Greenhouse

Sopho Jorbenadze, general director of Grato Greenhouse says, that despite the price increase, demand for plants is growing y-o-y. According to the General Director of Grato Greenhouses, the price on local seedlings has also grown. As for the imported ones, their value mainly depends on the exchange rate.

Sopho Jorbenadze notes, that the price on the local products has increased by 20%. Sopho Jorbenadze talks about the increase in logistics costs, according to her, increased shipping price significantly affects the business.

"Earlier, we paid over EUR 4,000, but today it exceeds EUR 6,000. Increasing transportation by EUR 2,000 has quite a big impact. If we look at it, we have a loss of GEL 100,000", says Sopho Jorbenadze.

The leading supplier of plants in Georgia is Europe, most of them are imported from Italy, Poland, Spain and Turkey, the price of imported trees and plants starts from GEL 20 and goes up to GEL 4,000. As for the local market, Georgian nurseries are mainly located in Kakheti and Samegrelo, those nurseries increased their product price by 20% this year.
