Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has announced that students with a suspended status because of a financial liability will have their debt written off, allowing them to be reinstated at their respective universities.
The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of supporting students and ensuring they can pursue their education without debt.
“The education and development of our students are of paramount importance to us. I want to address a pressing issue that concerns everyone – the matter of students with suspended statuses.
Approximately 30,000 students currently have their statuses suspended due to financial debts. Therefore, I have decided to forgive the arrears of all these students who have faced suspension due to financial reasons. They can now reinstate their statuses and continue their studies at their respective universities,” declared the speaker.
According to PM, debt amounts to approximately GEL 40 million.
