Iago Bitarishvili, the founder of "Iago's Wine", relates the growth of Georgian wine sales on the US market with promotion activities. He notes that the government should continue activities together with the private sector to increase awareness of Georgian wine.
"The market has great potential if we increase sales. This will be of great benefit to the industry. The main challenge is raising awareness in non-traditional markets. A lot of work has been done over the years, documentaries on Georgian wine are aired on US TV-channels. I think this increases the activities, but it should not be a one-time event. We need to do more, the state, and private business should spend more resources, and I am sure we will achieve even more success. Competition on the international market is stronger, because France, Spain and Australia sell a lot of wines," said Bitarishvili.
According to him, the establishment of new wineries contributed to the increase of competition and accordingly, wine quality on the market improved.
"The price of Georgian wine is increasing y-o-y, this is good. When the market is free and many wineries produce wine, that increases competition. Today, there is more competition than yesterday and much more than the day before yesterday, that's why the quality has increased," Iago Bitarishvili believes.
