"Poti Transterminal" is preparing for the opening, according to Kazakh PTC Holding, they have already received a certificate from the Georgian government to put the terminal into operation and it will officially be launched on June 9.
According to Olzhas Arikbayev, General Director of "Poti Transterminal", the construction of the terminal took a year and four months.
"The terminal will be able to service up to 120 railway wagons at a time. In addition, the terminal is equipped with two gantry cranes. "Poti Transterminal" can transport 50 containers per hour using the railway infrastructure.
In addition, the company has purchased its own maneuverable locomotive to increase autonomy and speed of operations,β the company said.
The project cost is $31.5 million. The terminalβs throughput capacity at the first stage will be more than 80 thousand TEU per year, with the possibility of increasing it to 200 thousand TEU by expanding the fleet of equipment and personnel.
