Chairman of the Competition Protection Commission of Armenia Gegham Gevorgyan spoke at the meeting of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva.
According to the Commission's press service Gevorgyan noted in his speech that key efforts are being made to expand the powers of the Commission to create a more effective and comprehensive system for protecting consumer interests in Armenia. Specifically, the country's legislation is being aligned with European standards within the framework of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
The Chairman emphasized the importance of cooperation with international partners such as UNCTAD, the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network (ICPEN), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
This cooperation aims to develop legislative provisions in line with advanced international practices for consumer protection.
