Private kindergartens in Georgia are considering raising tuition fees by around 10% from September, according to Gigi Sisvadze, Executive Director of the private kindergarten association Mnati. He told BM.GE that demand for private preschools remains strong despite previous price increases of 10–20%.
Sisvadze attributed the high demand to the quality of services offered by private kindergartens, including qualified teachers, psychologists, and specialists, as well as the stable environment they provide. He added that for some families, private kindergartens are also seen as a more practical alternative to hiring a nanny.
Monthly fees currently range between GEL 600 and GEL 1,000, with rising food, supply, and operating costs driving the proposed increase. Sisvadze said maintaining high-quality nutrition is a key priority and one of the sector's largest expenses.
He also noted that private kindergartens face staffing challenges, competing with the public sector to attract qualified professionals. Meanwhile, the authorization process for private kindergartens is still evolving, with standards, infrastructure requirements, and educational programs being introduced gradually.
