Farmer Tea Kutateladze considers that project Plant The Future is not correctly created and that’s why, there is no farmer left in Georgia who does not have a raspberry orchard, - the farmer told TV-Program Business Morning.
"The project has been created incorrectly from the very beginning and they are still continuing that. Wrongly selected region also creates problems, because it is absolutely inadmissible to grow raspberries and blackberries in Marneuli. Also, the varieties we bought in their selected nurseries are outdated, as such varieties were grown in 1963. In addition, there was water problem and as a result, the farmers either damaged the seedlings or cut them down,” said Tea Kutateladze.
According to her, there was talk on the part of the state that in parallel the state would finance the production, set up storage refrigerators, storage facilities, although it turned out to be only promotion.
Tea Kutateladze planted a raspberry and blackberry garden on 7 ha in Marneuli in 2017, with an investment of 300 thousand GEL. According to the farmer, within the framework of Plant The Future, the state covered 70% of seedling price and 50 % of water systems.
The project Plant The Future is initiated by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture and is implemented by the Agricultural Projects' Management Agency under the "United Agroproject" with the state budget.
Co-financing is carried out in two separate components of the program: a) The component of co-financing perennial gardens (hereinafter referred to as ‘gardens’ component’); b) Co-financing component of the nursery gardens (hereinafter referred to as ‘nursery gardens’ component’).
