BM.GE offers its readers updates on main Georgian Legal News that came in the focus of Deloitte Legal this time.
Following the decision of the Constitutional Court of Georgia in Case No.2/1/877, in which the court held that some of the provisions of the law of Georgia ‘On Copyright and Related Rights’ ran counter to the Constitution of Georgia, a package of amendments was proposed in the Parliament of Georgia to facilitate the implementation of the court’s decision and rectify these inconsistencies.
In summary, the amendments make the following provisions:
- Organisations that manage property rights on a collective basis will have the right to request information from individuals and legal entities (including state organisations and institutions) about manufacturing and import of equipment and physical carriers;
- The processing of received information in a way that breaches the established procedure will be subject to administrative liability.
