"Airlines need direct financial injection," Igor Aptsiauri, the founder of AERO GROUP GEORGIA, told BM.GE.
Aptsiauri urges the government to help the sector. Namely, an aid package should be offered to each local airline based on individual needs. According to Aptsiauri, special flights have been subsidized by the state in the spring, but now the process is stopped. However, operating at the same fixed cost amid the pandemic is not easy with limited resources.
"Airlines have fixed expenditures that they constantly pay, whether they have flights or not. There is a need for direct financial injection here. It could be direct financial assistance or favorable loan assistance. Something must be done now, because every month that passes can be disastrous for the airline and this kind of assistance will be impossible," said the founder of AERO GROUP GEORGIA.
