The euro area's annual inflation further increased in June to reach record 8.6%, according to a preliminary report published by Eurostat on Friday.
Energy had the highest impact on the annual rate, soaring 41.9% compared to June last year, followed by the price increases of food, alcohol & tobacco of 8.9%, non-energy industrial goods, and services.
Estonia and Lithuania recorded the highest rise in consumer prices of over 20%, while on the other hand, inflation was the lowest in France and Malta, below 7%. The final results are set to be published on July 19.
