"If we do not operate in Russia, this does not mean that we do not want," Gia Mshvidobadze, CEO of Georgian Wine Holding, told TV-program Business Morning. According to Mshvidobadze, the list of company’s target markets includes European, American and Japanese markets.

"As of today, we are represented on 18 markets. We do not sell wine for a cheap segment. The selling price of our wine is over $ 5 depending on the species.

There is a demand for our wine on the Russian market, but we do not have access to this market. The point is that in 2013, a delegation from Russia arrived in Georgia, which gave a lot of accreditations. However, no one has appeared since then and we are standing in line to gain access to the Russian market, but our main target markets are in Europe, as well as in the United States and Japan," Mshvidobadze explained.

Lado Uzunashvili, Chief Winemaker of "Georgian Wine Holding" also spoke about the challenges of the wine industry. As he explained, we need more control over the quality of the wine.

"The challenge is that we do not grow professionals, we spend too much on subsidizing grapes. If we had spent part of our attention on growing specialists, we would have received ambassadors of the field on the different markets," Uzunashvili said.
