International health expert Andria Urushadze responded the question of TV-program Business Morning about the role of insurance companies in the pandemic management.
"15% of citizens are insured in the insurance sector. Each is served by his or her family doctor. I do not know why this sector has not been involved in the management of covid-19, why all resources of the private sector are not used," he said.
According to Urushadze, when there is a such public health problem in the country, all companies should be involved.
“It is an illusion that we can handle Covid without the private healthcare sector. As for the capabilities of insurance companies, in my opinion, they have the ability to use their resources, including "call centers" and family doctors. How ready are they for this, the Ministry of Health should give us the answer,” said the health expert.
