The founders of the company "Qvevrula" plan to build an enterprise for the production of unheated pitchers (Qvevri) in the village of Mandaeti in Chiatura. The investment volume amounts to 5 million GEL.
Alexander Chinchaladze, co-founder and executive director of the company, told BM.GE that the enterprise will be launched in July and will employ about 50 people in the first stage.
Alexander Chinchaladze, who has experience in the production of traditional pitchers, explains that the demand for unheated pitchers (Qvevri) is great and that is why the partners decided to invest in this production.
"We have demand in both local and export markets, but at the first stage we will bring it to our market, where there is interest from both large and small wine producers.
The unheated pitcher plant will be located on the land area of 3 ha. The project includes construction of ancillary spaces in addition to the industrial building. The construction of the enterprise has already started and will be commissioned in two months after its completion. Auxiliary spaces will be built in one year and the enterprise will be put into operation at full capacity. At the initial stage, the enterprise will produce 200 one-ton pitchers, and after a year the productivity will increase from 5 to 7,000 pitchers,” said the CEO of Qvevrula.
According to him, from 2022 the factory will be fully put under operation and will employ 200-250 people.
