The tourism facility “Haeri” in Utsera, Racha, is operating at around 50% capacity this summer, with bookings increasing as the season gains momentum. Founder Geno Takadze says inaccurate weather forecasts, limited infrastructure, and seasonality remain key challenges for the business.

He noted that most guests are Georgian tourists, accounting for around 80% of visitors, while foreign arrivals have declined, particularly from Arab countries and Israel due to regional conflicts. Taqadze also highlighted the shortage of entertainment facilities in Upper Racha, saying visitors often have to organize activities such as hiking, jeep tours, and camping themselves.

A major issue remains winter operations, as water system problems force the facility to close every year. Takadze said a complete redesign of the local water infrastructure is needed to allow year-round operation.

Despite rising costs and increased competition, “Haeri” has kept its prices unchanged. Founded in 2021 with a GEL 200,000 investment, the complex currently includes three cottages for 12 guests and plans to expand with new cottages, a pool, food services, and additional recreational spaces.
