The tourism season in Georgia’s Racha region began roughly a month later than usual this year, according to Gvantsa Kruashvili, founder of the hospitality venue Kesane - Forget Me Not.
Speaking on BMGTV’s Women’s Narrative, Kruashvili said the delayed start was caused by several factors, including the addition of a new outdoor area and terrace, related renovation works, and unfavorable weather conditions. The venue eventually opened for the season on May 9.
This year, the business is welcoming guests with an updated concept and expanded facilities. Qruashvili noted that the project is more than a commercial venture, describing it as a space closely tied to personal memories and the cultural identity of Racha.
She also highlighted the region’s short tourism season as a key challenge, with visitor activity largely concentrated between July and September. While domestic tourism has been weaker than usual this spring, international arrivals remain strong, particularly from Israel, Poland, and Ukraine. Opened in July 2023, Kesane - Forget Me Not offers local wines and traditional Georgian cuisine sourced from regional producers.
