Work on railway infrastructure is currently progressing on the Kvishkheti-Khashuri section. Georgian Railways has provided an update on the developments.
The railway authorities report that approximately 200 personnel and heavy machinery are engaged at the site.
“The Director General of Georgian Railways, Lasha Abashidze, inspected the ongoing work.
Capital repairs are being carried out along a three-kilometre stretch of track, after which train speeds in this part of the central railway will be increased to 100 km/h.
This infrastructure upgrade is set to reduce travel times for both passenger and freight services.
It has been announced that, for the summer season, the journey time from Tbilisi to Batumi will be shortened.
According to Abashidze, infrastructure improvements are actively progressing across Georgia. These efforts will, on the one hand, enable higher train speeds, and on the other, enhance comfort for passengers,” the statement concludes.
