"Religious diversity of Georgia is one of the main wealths of our country. It was announced by Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia when delivering a speech at the Iftar held in respect of the Muslim community.

The Head of Government of Georgia congratulated the Muslim community at the end of a month-long Ramadan fasting and wished them happiness, prosperity and success.

"Muslim community, being our integral part, is making a tremendous contribution in the building of our country and our brotherhood is backed by a huge history. Georgia is a unique country, where Georgian and Azerbaijani, Shia and Sunni Muslims pray at the same mosque. This tradition of peaceful co-existence and brotherhood is very dear to us and we prove this with our deeds. State has so far transferred 237 mosques to the Muslim community and another 20 are ready for the transfer. State has increased funding to the Muslim community to 4 150 000 GEL as well and this support will be growing more along the economic growth and advancement of the country. Religious diversity of Georgia is one of our wealths. Every group of the society - every religious congregation, every individual should have a feeling while building a Georgian state even today that they are fully-fledged participants of this process and we - the state authorities - will continue doing our best in future as well" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Muslim community gathered at the Iftar was addressed by Zaza Vashakmadze, Chairman of the State Agency for Religious Affairs; Faig Nabiyev, Sheikh of All Muslims of Georgia; Adam Shantadze, Mufti of West Georgia; Etibar Eminov, Mufti of East Georgia.

The Iftar held in respect of the Muslim community in the name of the Prime Minister of Georgia was attended by Thea Akhvlediani, State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, diplomatic corps and other officials”, said the PM.
