Remittances sent to Georgia from abroad totaled to $295.17 million (GEL 772.7 million) in August 2026, down by 8.2% year-on-year, or $26.4 million, according to the National Bank of Georgia.
The EU remained the largest source of remittances, accounting for 50.8% ($149.93 million) of the total, up by 3.91% year-on-year. The United States ranked first among individual countries with $64.14 million, followed by Italy with $55.22 million, Germany with $31.31 million and Greece with $28.24 million. Remittances from Israel also rose sharply, increasing by 24.88% to $27.92 million.
The largest decline was recorded in transfers from Russia, which fell by 87.74% year-on-year to just $5.07 million. Remittances from Kyrgyzstan also dropped significantly, declining by 80.44% to $2.19 million. Overall, 96.3% of incoming remittances came from Georgia’s 25 largest partner countries.
Meanwhile, money transfers from Georgia to foreign countries amounted to $33.6 million (GEL 88 million) in August, down 5.8% from $35.7 million recorded in August 2025.
