Popular Zugdidi-based restaurant Diaroni is entering a new stage of expansion, planning to open its first branch in Tbilisi this year. The restaurant’s owner, Mamuka Nakopia, confirmed the news in an interview with BM.GE, noting that construction is already underway and the new location is expected to welcome guests by the end of the year.
The new branch will be located in the Saburtalo district and will be significantly larger in scale. Designed to accommodate more than 200 guests, the project includes indoor dining areas as well as open-air spaces such as a veranda and terrace. Although Diaroni will maintain its signature Megrelian culinary identity, the menu will be expanded with a wider variety of dishes. Nakopia estimates the total investment in the Tbilisi project at around GEL 2 million.
Alongside the capital expansion, the company is also developing its existing property in Zugdidi. According to Nakopia, plans include adding a hotel and enhancing additional spaces on the land they already own. While the design is ready, the implementation timeline for the Zugdidi project remains under consideration and will be pursued in the longer term.
The investor does not rule out future expansion into other regions of Georgia. However, for now, Diaroni’s primary focus is ensuring a successful entry into the Tbilisi market and launching operations at the new Saburtalo branch.
